Useful Links

You may have never had to ask for extra practice in the past, but sometimes it's necessary in chemistry.  Below is a selection of good websites with practice problems and other resources.  If you find a great website that you think other students would benefit from, send me an email with the link and I'll post it on this page!

Acid Naming Practice  Some of these may be based on polyatomic ions you're not familiar with, but you can just skip...or...you could look up the polyatomic ion!

Acid Naming Practice Hangman  Good way to review with hints!  Again, there might be some that you're unfamiliar with.  Just use them as an opportunity to learn!

Activity Series Demonstration  Need to make up the lab, or just want to practice using the activity series to predict single replacement labs?  Here's the site for you!

Balancing Practice  This website gives you the ability to tailor the difficulty level.  Gives instant feedback!  :)

The ChemCollective  This website shows you how to do various chemistry problems!

Chemical vs. Physical Properties and Changes  A nice review and some practice problems at the bottom.  Thanks Jasmine!

Density Practice With immediate feedback!

Dilution Practice  Website has examples, problems, and answers.

Dilution Tutorial  Nice video review of dilution problems!

Dimensional Analysis tutorial   Having difficulty with dimensional analysis?  This video reviews what we learned in class!

Dimensional Analysis practice  Will give immediate feedback and show you the correct work to get to the answer.

Element Song #1  Fun!  :)

Element Song #2  More fun!  :)

Empirical Formula, Molecular Formula, and Percent Composition Practice  Really nice website with immediate feedback.

Equilibrium and LeChatelier's Principle  This website shows how actual chemical reactions and how they respond to stress.

Gas Laws Tutorials and Practice  Explanations of solving problems with gas laws and practice problems.

Gas Law Practice:  Boyle's Law  With immediate feedback!  Pay close attention to units!

Gas Law Practice:  Charles' Law  With immediate feedback!  Pay close attention to units!

Gas Law Practice:  Avogadro's Law  With immediate feedback!  Pay close attention to units!

Gas Law Practice:  Combined Gas Law  With immediate feedback!  Pay close attention to units!

Gas Law Practice:  Graham's Law With immediate feedback!

Gas Law Practice:  Ideal Gas Law aka PV=nRT  With immediate feedback!  Pay close attention to units!

Gas Law Practice:  With immediate feedback!  Everything mixed.  Focus on questions 4-19.  Some of the others are a fun challenge, though!

More Gas Law Practice: Includes Dalton's law and stoichiometry with gas laws)

More Equilibrium and LeChat's Principle  Nice animations of LeChat's principle!  Be patient, though, it takes time to respond to stress!

"Hunting the Elements"  Fascinating Nova film about the elements!

Lewis Structure Practice  Gives immediate feedback, but there are some difficult problems on this site at times!

Limiting Reactant Tutorial and Practice  A tutorial and problems with key

Limiting Reactant Practice  With immediate feedback!

Limiting Reactant Practice -- Again!  Also with immediate feedback!

Metric Conversion Practice  Just a few metric conversion problems to get you started

More Metric Conversion Practice  Even more practice

Molarity Practice  Gives immediate feedback!

Molarity Tutorial  Nice video review of molarity problems!

Mole Video Crash Course video on the mole

Mole Conversion Practice  Practice converting moles, mass, molecules, and volume;  If we haven't talked about how volume relates to moles yet, skip those questions.

Naming Chemical Formulas  Pretty wide selection of ionic and molecular compounds!  Note, this is only formula to name.  If you want to practice the other direction, see next link.  There may be some polyatomic ions that you are unfamiliar with.  If so, simply skip them!

Nuclear Reading Assignment  Articles and videos about nuclear power and nuclear disasters.

Names to Formulas  Pretty wide selection of ionic and molecular compounds!  Note this is only name to formula.  If you want to practice the other direction, see previous link.   There may be some polyatomic ions that you are unfamiliar with.  If so, simply skip them!

Percent Yield Practice  With immediate feedback!

Review Game from Class  Clicker questions that we used in class on Thursday!

Sig Fig Practice  Great tool for practicing determining the number of sig figs in a number!  You better go ahead and learn these rules now!  Ask anyone who has had chemistry!

More Sig Figs Practice  Using sig figs when you add, subtract, multiply, and divide!

Stoichiometry, Balancing Equations with Khan Academy:  Tutorials, practice problems, etc. on balancing, basic (ideal) stoichiometry, and limiting reactant stoichiometry

Formula Writing and Naming Practice:  Go to the Problem Sets (1a-1g) at the bottom of the page.  Each set has a link with answers.  Warning!  There may be some polyatomic ions that we have not learned.  Don't worry about doing these.
